Scraps of stories

Trento, Italy.

The city walls at Triest, 26th April 1834.

The diary, 25th and 26th April 1834: "... towards the end of the day we reached Triest, a large town set in the beautiful valley. I walked to the cathedral with its ancient pictures and to the church of St. Mary where the crucifix which spoke at the council may be found ... a lonely cypress tree stood pointing at the sky, its hue was a beautiful blue and it seemed to say to me: you are still in Italy.

Hans Christian Andersen used his drawings as detailed notes for his writings. Thus there is a connection between the drawings and Hans Christians Andersen's way of writing.
