Breakfast in Fur

What would it be like living down in a rabbit's hole? You don't have to be Alice to answer the question. Think of that little special place within we all like to visit every now and then. It's our Wonderland, a private imaginary city we always wander by ourselves.

In my own tea party down the rabbit hole all guests would be served in fluffy cups and dishes.

Symbolism meets Surrealism.

Méret Oppenheim, artist and photographer born on October 6th, 1913 did that when creating her sculpture named "Le Déjeuner en fourrure", an art object consisting of a fur-covered teacup, saucer and spoon.

Next on my October Inspiration Board is Mary's Katrantzou Autumn Winter 2014 collection which feature Swarovski Crystals and Pearls. Entitled 'Hail Mary'. The designer teamed up with Salt Magazine for a story featuring pieces from that collection. The outcome is the blurred notion of a solid isolation. Mary seems to know the way to those imaginary cities of ours.

Last, pined on that amazing collage, is some silky, velvet -not underground- ongoing exhibition at the V&A Museum, entitled "Here Come the Brides "
The wedding dress, fairy tale to most women, makes people walk down the memory lane in full October speed.

" As the nights draw in, so too do the clothes we wear, as we swap loose sun dresses for wraps and jumpers. This change in style transfers inevitably into bridal wear – although many brides do attempt to overcome the cold, shivering slightly in a sleeveless dress or wrapped in a stole or cape."

(extract taken from "How to Warm a Wedding" by Susanna Cordner ).

... Till we meet again, enjoy your breakfast in the midst of shrinking daylight.
